Powerflushing

Powerflushing

Powerflushing is a cleaning process that improves your central heating system’s efficiency.

CHS Glasgow – Powerflushing

Over time, debris such as rust and dirt, can build up in your heating system. This contamination turns into a mud-like substance known as sludge. And this impacts on the productivity of your heating system. If you don’t remove the mud, you may need a replacement boiler.

We recommend a yearly professional service for your boiler. A powerflush is part of proper boiler maintenance. You should carry it out approximately 5-6 years after installation. But this can vary depending on your system. The process can take as little as 2 hours depending on how extreme the contamination is. But, if the contamination is severe, it may be more cost efficient to replace rather than repair. Our heating engineer will be able to confirm this for you.

A power flush may be necessary if your system is experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • Inefficient boiler performance
  • Regular boiler breakdown
  • Noisy boiler
  • Cold spots on radiators for example, hot at the top and cold at the bottom
  • Heaters requiring regular bleeding
  • Dirty water when bleeding radiators
  • Cold radiators but hot pipes
  • Radiators taking a long time to heat up

Power flushing can improve your central heating’s lifespan, as well as its efficiency.
